The geared sanders used as polishers. Their rotary mode drives the pad rather than letting it spin freely, so it keeps working under pressure — and it polishes without building the heat that risks burning through paint or gelcoat on an edge. The 150 mm machine covers panels and large surfaces; the 90 mm machine reaches into the places a big pad cannot, and adds a delta pad for corners. Both switch to random-orbit for the finishing stage, so correction and finish happen with one tool.
