The larger cordless jigsaw in the D-handle form — a bow handle you push from behind, rather than the barrel grip you steer with your palm. The higher capacity is the reason to choose the 500 over the 420: more power and more blade support for thick stock, where a smaller machine lets the blade lean and the cut comes out out of square. Which grip suits you is habit rather than capability, but the D-handle is generally preferred for long straight cuts at bench height.
