Battery packs. The tabless cells are the ones worth understanding: current leaves the cell by many paths instead of one, so internal resistance and heat both drop, which shows up as longer runtime and shorter charging on machines that work hard. They replace the previous HighPower packs at the same price. Capacity follows the work rather than a bigger-is-better rule. A compact 4.0 Ah pack keeps a drill balanced for overhead work; an 8.0 Ah pack sustains what a saw or extractor pulls. Smaller 10.8 and 12 V packs serve the compact machines. Packs are shared across the platform, so an extra one is rarely wasted.
