Reciprocating saws are for demolition and rough cutting, where access matters and finish does not — through a stud, into a joist, along a wall, or pruning where nothing else fits. The cordless machine runs a brushless motor with a pendulum stroke you can dial from 0 to 3 mm: off for metal and a clean line, open for fast work in timber. Its blade also turns through 180° so the teeth face up, which is how you cut flush to a wall, ceiling or floor. An anti-vibration gearbox takes a substantial share of the shake out, which your wrists notice on a long day. Blade length does the rest: 150 mm for confined cuts, 230 and 305 mm for framing, 400 mm to cross a full section in one stroke. Bi-metal blades survive hidden nails; reinforced carbide demolition blades take on abrasive and high-temperature work that would strip a standard tooth.
